Amrita's smile and innocence are a vital aspect of her prettiness and persona. She perfectly defines the modesty of a conventional Indian girl and the chutzpah of an ultra modern lass. The bubbly actress reveals more about her...

My journey to stardom...
My journey to Bollywood has been very smooth and clean. I was one of the industry's most sought after models, which in-turn bagged me several top projects. I never took any special training in acting or dancing; I just learnt the tricks of the trade, while on the job.

Amrita RaoMy entry into Bollywood...
My entry into Bollywood was accidental and yet a matter of destiny. I was always academically driven and believed in being a topper. However, facing the camera was something that was inborn and came very naturally to me. I completed my graduation before signing my first film. Now that I am an actress, I cannot think of anything else to do.

My glamorous appearance in Short Kut: The Con is On...
My role expected that I be more diva like in the movie. Since, I had the great designer Manish Malhotra styling me, so I was pretty comfortable with the whole idea. It is not that I am not glamorous off-screen but I guess people relate more with your on-screen image. If in the future, I am required to be in a non-glam look, I would definitely consider it.

The experience of TV show...
Thanks to my good friend Farah Khan, who convinced Star Plus to take me on as a mentor and not as a celebrity guest. After Shahrukh Khan and Amitabh Bachchan, Star Plus considered me, which is a great opportunity. However, television is not my cup of tea. I would like to stick to the mainstream cinema.

My nature...
A good blend of all and depends entirely upon my mood swings. I can be romantic in dull and gloomy weather. I can be an extrovert in the most happening party or adventurous on a sunny day. I do not want to place myself in a specific category.

My dream role...
The role is my prime consideration. A banner is equally important for me, as the public perceives you better when you are associated with a well known production house. I would love to work with the Karan Johar, Yash Chopra or Farah Khan production camps.

Amrita Rao - Bollywood ActressMy coming year on professional front...
During Main Hoon Na, SRK told me that it takes a combination of 40 odd films to be recognised as an actor. I am still very young and have a long way to go. The coming year will involve a lot of professional commitments, as presently I am screening various projects. In fact, I was offered Bachana Ae Haseeno and Aa Dekhe Zaraa but I declined it, as I felt that my role was not good enough.

My favourites:

  • Movie: Dilwala Dulhaniya Le Jayenge
  • Director: Farah Khan
  • Actor:  Shahid Kapur
  • Actress: Kajol
  • Colour: Pink
  • Perfume: Delices de Cartier
  • Outfit:  Short dresses
  • Holiday destination: Cape Town, South Africa
  • Fashion designers: Manish Malhotra, Swapnil Shinde, Suneet Verma, Archana Kochhar
