Indigenous Charisma of James Ferreira

More Runway Reports:

James Ferreira, this Spring Summer painted a new picture with our very own earthy palette of colours. He promoted khadi as the eponymous Indian fabric. The veteran designer pays a tribute to all the years since India was placed over the world map for its originality.

Through a series of patriotic historical Indian songs, it touched the Indianness in everyone. There were many other techniques to further highlight the surfaces like pita work, appliques and big floral embroidery motifs.  Khadi was mixed with satin and other modern fabrics.

The embellishments in the form of pita-work looked elegant with Italian georgettes printed with khadi weave. The shapes included creatively draped dresses, dhoti pants and asymmetric jackets. The Gandhi cap was another tribute to India.  The sarees in grey with pink tipping looked exquisite.

The short ghaghra skirt was teamed nicely with tunics. Another episode began when white sarees with gold and soft silver embroidery motifs and woven blouses came on the ramp, which added a sense of purity to the designer’s celebration of patriotism.
