New talent to take centre stage at Lakme Fashion Week Winter-Festive 2010

Lakme Fashion week (LFW), in its 11th year of extraordinary contribution to the Business of fashion, once again invited new and aspiring models to showcase their very best at the Winter- Festive female model auditions at the Grand Hyatt, Mumbai.

The model auditions serve as a remarkable platform to launch new and untapped young talent. The initiative is an integral part of LFW's commitment to continuously provide a foundation for new and emerging talent. This season saw 63 talented Indian and international female models turn up to the LFW Winter - Festive 2010 audition.

After 2 rounds of short listing by fashion industry experts, 4 models – Anjali Raut, Anuradha Nayudu, Marcela Rodrigues and Reyna Leyva were selected. The Lakme Fashion Week Winter - Festive 2010 will start from September 17 to September 21, 2010 at Grand Hyatt, Mumbai.

Talking about the importance of model auditions, Anil Chopra, Advisor, Lakme said, "LFW is known to have launched many careers in the fashion industry and brought forward some of the most admirable names in the business. We recognize the imperative role that models play in the success of a Fashion Week and our auditions are a step towards identifying and nurturing this potential."

The aspirants were evaluated by an reputed panel of judges comprising of eminent designers Narendra Kumar and Monisha Jaisingh; supermodel Sheetal Mallar; show director Marc Robinson; ace photographer Farrokh Chothia; Nonita Kalra, Editor in chief of Elle Magazine and Sujal Shah, Vice President & Head of Fashion, IMG, India. Models were judged basis their attitude, confidence, poise and individuality on the ramp.

"Model auditions are an integral part of our process each season to discover and infuse new talent into Lakme Fashion Week.  This season, we've seen a good mix of domestic and international talent.  We are pleased to have selected 4 models who we believe have what it takes to be a part of India’s most recognizable fashion platform, LFW. The selection made by the reputed panel of judges was transparent and we've picked the best of the lot," said Sujal Shah, Vice President & Head of Fashion, IMG India.
