The darling of women, gold jewellery has been beautifying females of all ages from ancient times. A symbol of class and luxury, this sparkling metal has the power to improve the feminine elegance. It enhances the aura and stature of women in the most delicate and sophisticated method. Therefore, every woman loves to increase her good looks with new designs and trends to stand out in the contemporary fashion. World Gold Council recently has come out with following six new influential trends, which will be seen in the worldwide gold jewellery industry in 2011:
Gold, the new jewelThis precious commodity was extensively presented at Vicenza Fair in Italy as the 'jewel', which elevates a piece to iconic status. The incorporation of gold into primarily wood or ceramic pieces by designers including Micheletto and Vendorafa was eye catching and utterly modern. A gold chain nestled amongst silver was shown by brand Superoro, which was bold and bright. Gold presented in this way raises a fashion piece to a higher level, adding an edge to the extraordinary heritage of gold.
Precious and delicate The preciousness of gold also found expression at this fair in beautiful pieces, which were delicate and desirable. High carat, elegant and classic slim chains were shown with tiny gold charms. Precious gold details on sparkled pieces like gems were also shown while using diamond cut techniques.
Openwork and weavingExpert craftsmanship at this fair showed how gold electroforming has been taken to a new level. Designers including Tre Spighe and Graziella exhibited bracelets, necklaces, earrings and rings, which demonstrated an elevated level of detail in gold jewellery. This technique was previously only possible to achieve through hand carving. Delicate, spidery, skeletal structures weaved through designs expressed the beauty of the gold via the most intricate execution.
Texture and colourHammered, diamond-cut and silk finishes created texture and interest were combined in one piece of gold jewellery with beautiful effect. Yellow gold, white gold and rose gold were combined by designers including Damiani for opulent pieces; ranging from the young to the rich and classic.
Shapes of the seasonGold hearts, pebbles, stars, seashells and flowers peppered pieces were presented by labels like II Giglio, Sade and others. Smaller details were complemented with bolder shapes and coils recurred in themes throughout many collections.
Personal expressionExpert gold craftsmanship found expression in increasingly versatile pieces, such as reversible designs and pieces, which work with or without attachments to add interest to length or width. Customisable gold by designers including Neri Romualdo, Chimento and Mattioli offered versatility, modernity and the power of personal expression.
