As the weather changes its routine for the winter, our skin and body need certain care as dry air, harsh wind can sap moisture from the skin and make it dryer, flakier and more irritated. Few skin care tips will help you to avoid all skin problems during winters and keep your skin glowing.

Do not bathe or shower with very hot water. Warm water is rather gentle on your skin than hot water. Do not bathe more than once a day, if your skin is very dry. Avoid prolong use of water as it depletes the moisture from the body.

Get an oil massage once or twice a week, an hour or two before your bath. You can use olive oil or sunflower oil. If not available then you can also try mustard oil, which is easily available at every home.

At night, use a cold cream or moisturiser on your face, if you have dry skin. If you have oily skin, then use an oil-free moisturiser.

Lips always seem to lose the battle with winter's cruelty. Fight back with lip balm. Dry, cracked hands are also unappealing and painful. Use winter cream to nourish the hands, whenever you wash them, as exposure to water actually dehydrates the skin faster.

Cool and frosty air removes moisture from the skin. Use creams over lotions, as lotions are absorbed quickly into the skin. A good quality thick cream will form the protective barrier that is required.

Drink lots of water even in winters as internal hydration keeps the skin cells, plump and healthy. Water also helps transporting nutrients to skin cells, keeping them nourished.

Eating warm cooked food, drinking lukewarm water, herbs, spice tea and moderate daily exercise can help in improving the circulation, digestion and elimination of wastage and toxins from the body, while keeping the skin healthy and clear. Consume some anti-oxidant supplements like Vitamin B, C, and E, along with Zinc and Magnesium.
